  • 911th Airlift Wing hosts Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.

    The 911th Airlift Wing hosted established senior-level leaders, high-potential young professionals and post 9/11 veterans who graduated from leadership development courses offered by Leadership Pittsburgh Inc., March 22, 2019. “Leadership Pittsburgh is a nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to developing civic leaders to serve the region,” said Marie Hamblett, program director with Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. One of the 911th AW’s own, 911th Operations Group commander Col. Gregory Buchanan, is a Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. alumni.
  • Despite changes, safety stays priority

    For the 911th Maintenance Squadron Metals Technology Shop, a temporary duty assignment to March Air Reserve Base, California, in March 2019 was more than just about learning how to work on the 911th Airlift Wing’s new C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. It was about safety as well. The arrival of new aircraft means new equipment. With new equipment comes learning new safety procedures and precautions, which is a priority.

  • 911th Airlift Wing combines resources in cross-country flight

    A recent cross-country flight provided Airmen from the 911th Airlift Wing, Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, Pennsylvania, with an opportunity to receive vital training, each in his or her career field. Approximately 20 Airmen from the 911th Maintenance Group boarded a C-17 Globemaster III from their home station and flew to March Air Reserve Base, California, with the goal of completing aircrew training and several maintenance tasks, all required for them to be fully operational in their mission.

  • Battle Rig: A new kind of fitness

    A new workout made its debut here October 14, 2018, with the introduction of the Alpha Warrior Battle Rig to Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station’s array of fitness equipment. The 911th Airlift Wing welcomed two Alpha Warrior pros, Tawnee Leonardo and Kevin Klein, to demonstrate the rig, and explain the various programs designed to keep Airmen functionally fit.
  • 76th APS hosts the 76er Skills Challenge

    The 76th Aerial Port Squadron holds the 76er competition annually as a fun way to train. The competition consists of six parts: a hundred question test, a pallet build up, a 10K forklift obstacle course, a 25K Halverson obstacle course, a team physical training course, and an simulated Engine Running Onload/Offload of a C-130H Hercules.
  • Cyber exercise supports academic research, points toward future capabilities

    Sixteen Airmen manned their battle stations.  The clock ticked closer to the expected moment of contact and then the attack began.  Rather than the Airmen being armed with M-4 rifles they were armed with computer mice and rather than a physical attack coming from an enemy in mass a digital adversary attempted to find and exploit the 911th Airlift
