  • Angel Tree Program brings holiday cheer

    With holiday celebrations just around the corner, the season of giving is officially here. Over the last decade the 911th Airlift Wing’s Angel Tree has been around to help with holiday cheer. The Angel Tree Program, which has helped more than 100 personnel, is a way for 911th Airlift Wing members to help out their fellow Airmen who may be in need around the holidays through donations of gift cards, gifts and other necessary items.
  • Selfless service: 911th AW family donate masks, food, money to those in need

    911th Aeromedical Staging Squadron Nurse Capt. Geoffrey Abner and his wife Sharon are a prime example of this. The couple made cloth masks for multiple organizations, including the 911th Airlift Wing and members of their own community, while asking for small donations in return.
  • 911th AW conducts first home station check on Pittsburgh soil

    The first HSC performed at their home base was a testament to the adaptability and resiliency of Steel Airmen of the 911th Maintenance Group. On May 9, 2020, Airmen began their HSC out on the flightline while working social distancing, mask wearing and sanitizing into their procedures.

  • Long day's night

  • 911th Airlift Wing hosts Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.

    The 911th Airlift Wing hosted established senior-level leaders, high-potential young professionals and post 9/11 veterans who graduated from leadership development courses offered by Leadership Pittsburgh Inc., March 22, 2019. “Leadership Pittsburgh is a nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to developing civic leaders to serve the region,” said Marie Hamblett, program director with Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. One of the 911th AW’s own, 911th Operations Group commander Col. Gregory Buchanan, is a Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. alumni.

  • LRS gains new warehouse

Mamadou Bah, material management craftsmen with the 911th Logistics Readiness Squadron, asses the storage capacity of a new warehouse at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, Pa., Feb. 14, 2019. The new 911th LRS warehouse space was added to building 312 in early November in order to allow the base supply, previously located in building 320, to move to the main 911th LRS building. The contents of the warehouse are in the process of being moved into the new space but as it gets filled it will store mobility bag assets for base personnel and readiness spares packages among other items.
