Base hosts Global Medic exercise

Global Medic 2013 kicked off the three-week exercise from the Pittsburgh International Airport, Air Reserve Station, July 15, 2013. The 911th Airlift Wing will act as the host nation to provide support staff, aircraft and equipment staging throughout the exercise. The 911th was chosen based on its’ ability to support 24/7 aircraft launch and recovery capability and ramp space that will accommodate aircraft such as the C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster, C-130 Hercules and KC-135 Stratotanker. The annual joint-Reserve field-training exercise is designed to replicate all facets of combat theater aeromedical evacuation support. The area of operations for the exercise is located at Fort McCoy, Wis. (U.S. Air Force photo illustration by Capt. Shawn M. Walleck)
