Wing Change of Command
Col. Gordon H. Elwell, a State University College of New York in Buffalo graduate and New York native, assumed command of the 911th Airlift Wing, June 3, 2007, as Maj. Gen. Martin M. Mazick, 22nd Air Force commander, hosted the event. Col. Elwell comes to the 911th Airlift Wing from Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where he was the Air Force Reserve Advisor to the Commander, United States Air Forces in Europe. His other commands have included the 920th Operations Group, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., as well as the 376th Expeditionary Group, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Col. Randal L. Bright, who served as the 911th Airlift Wing commander since Aug. 1, 2005, will be headed to Dover Air Force Base, Del., to assume duties as the 512th Airlift Wing commander.
