C-130 multi- tasked

The cockpit of a 911th Airlift Wing C-130 looks over the Pittsburgh International Airport’s flightline, July 19, 2012. The 911th AW’s 7 airplanes primarily perform the tactical portion of the airlift mission and participate in air transport of airborne forces, equipment and supplies with delivery by airdrop, extraction, and air landing. The design of the C-130 enables it to be configured for many diverse missions, allowing it to effectively accomplish many missions. Much of the special mission equipment added to the Hercules is detachable, allowing the aircraft to return to a specific delivery role, enabling it to be reconfigured for various types of cargo, for example; palletized equipment, floor-loaded material, airdrop platforms, container delivery system bundles, vehicles, personnel or aeromedical equipment.
