Master at Arms Seaman Apprentice Dillon Statler, Naval Security Force Pittsburgh, and Staff Sergeant David Griggs, 911th Security Forces, Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, prepare to clear a room during a joint service active shooter training exercise, Dec. 6, 2013 held at the Pennsylvania Air National Guard's 171st Air Refueling Wing's "shoot house." Twelve Security Forces Defenders and ten Masters at Arms participated in the day long Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training  conducted by Master Sergeant Ken Craft and Staff Sergeant Judson Heckerman of the 911th SFS. "The main objective of ALERRT is to provide first responders with the tactics and tools that they will need to quickly and effectively eliminate an active shooter threat," said Craft. "The system is designed to be universal so that first responders from various branches of the military, municipal police departments, and federal agencies can arrive on scene, form an entry team, and stop the threat as quickly as possible. "Since the NSF Pittsburgh is now a drilling reserve unit here at the 911th it has become imperative that the wing's Security Forces train with them to ensure that we as first responders are all on the same page and able to take action as one cohesive team."
