As a ground safety technician with the 911th Airlift Wing Safety Office, Tech. Sgt. Christopher D. Lindsey's duties include annual building inspections, safety program assessments, mishap reports, risk management and maintaining the wing's overall general safety.

Lindsey grew up in Allison Park, Pa., and graduated from Hampton High School. He joined the military in 2001 as an active duty Air Force maintenance troop working in electronic countermeasures.

"I wanted to help defend those truths we hold self-evident," he said. "I was also looking to travel and see some of the world. I was curious as to what else was out there, and I wanted to be part of something greater than myself.

Lindsey came to the 911th Airlift Wing in 2005 and moved to Moon Township, Pa., after four years of active duty, remaining a member of maintenance for his first nine years. In March 2014, he came to the wing safety office, looking for a new challenge and a chance to learn something new.

He said his favorite part of his job is its variety.

"It's something different every day," he said. "There has been no two days that I've been here that the same things have transpired. Everything's new to me, especially at this point. I'm learning something new every day and I'm really enjoying it."

Lindsey also has many interests outside the military, including working with anything mechanical such as cars and boats, but his main concern is his family.

"My interests right now include raising three small children," he said, "which is a job in and of itself."

Lindsey said he is committed to the safety of Air Force personnel and resources.

"I am going to do my best to do my best for the wing and its people," he said.
