PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIR RESERVE STATION, Pa. -- The 911th Airlift Wing identified today the Airman who passed away Nov. 5, 2022.
Staff Sgt. Aaron Holness was found unresponsive in his home in Wilkins Twp. His chain of command became concerned when he did not report for scheduled training on Saturday, and they called for a wellness check.
Holness served as a logistics technician with the 911th Logistics Readiness Squadron. He is remembered fondly by his teammates and fellow Steel Airmen for his frequent smiles and positive outlook.
“Aaron was a valued member of our Steel Airmen team. We’ll always remember his professionalism and infectious smile,” said Col. Bryan M. Bailey, 911th Airlift Wing commander. “On behalf of the entire wing, I send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends as we grieve together.”
Steel Airmen are encouraged to seek support during this difficult time. The Steel Airmen Support Team, including the director of psychological health and chaplain, are available to help Airmen navigate their grief.
The incident remains under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
