PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIR RESERVE STATION, Pa.-- -- Pittsburgh area civic leaders had the opportunity to fly on a local mission in a C-17 Globemaster III assigned to the 911th Airlift Wing and learn more about what the base offers the community, Oct. 1, 2020.
During the flight, passengers had the opportunity to view the cockpit and take photos of an in-flight air refueling exercise performed by our neighbors and partners at the 171st Air Refueling Wing. The 911th AW and the 171st ARW often work together on exercise missions due to their proximity to each other and complementary missions.
The civic leaders were also given a demonstration by the 911th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron on how in-flight medical treatment works, as well as a brief lesson on cargo capacity and loading procedures by the 758th Airlift Squadron.
