Toys for Tots donation box at 911th ASTS

PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIR RESERVE STATION, Pa. --

Typically when you hear the words Toys for Tots, there’s snow on the ground and December 25th is right around the corner. But this year, one Steel Airman is making it easy to support the Marine Toys for Tots Program without wearing a winter jacket.

Staff Sgt. Robert Ostrowski, flight and aerospace medic with the 911th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, is collecting donations to bring to a Christmas in July toy drive being supported by his local Jeep club, Wicked Jeeps Western PA. Donations will be collected on base in building 220, the 911th ASTS building, room 109, until July 26th at 1500.

“I personally feel that giving back to the community is one of the best ways to show each and every community member that their support to the armed services does not go unnoticed,” said Ostrowski. “The Marine Toys for Tots Program is a great way for not only myself, as a member of the United States Air Force, but for all members of the community to come out and support those less fortunate.”

New, unwrapped toys can be donated. The organization is asking that no stuffed animals be donated. Cash donations will be accepted but must be coordinated with Chelsea Korchok, administrator with Wicked Jeeps Western PA, who can be reached at 724.689.3510. Please contact Staff Sgt. Ostrowski at 412.736.8058 if you are planning to donate a large item so item so the drop-off can be coordinated.

The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them to less fortunate children at Christmas. For more information on the program or to find other ways to support their mission, visit their website at www.toysfortots.org/.
