Hosting one of the country's top 10 air shows is no small task, which is why success is tied to all the details both big and small. With a little over two months left until the big show coordinators continue meeting on a monthly basis chipping away at those details ensuring the air show has another successful year.

As the event takes shape one of the biggest deadlines for units is submission of their 'support form.' Services requires that all support forms be returned to them no later than July 13 in order for units to receive numerous operational items, such as: water, golf carts and cell phones/radios. "The process for requesting these items hasn't changed however, we still need an updated form in order to fulfill your request and these forms give us the most accurate picture of what all needs to be ordered" said Ms. Coleen Czachowski, operations director for the 911th Services Squadron.

The Wings Over Pittsburgh website is up and running with the most up-to-date information. "Right now we are averaging over 1,000 hits a week and as we get closer to the show I expect the traffic to increase dramatically. Over the next few weeks we plan on updating all performers and static displays as well as post more detailed directions, parking plans and road closures," said Mr. Jimmy Abel, Wings Over Pittsburgh webmaster.

Meetings between all local agencies and base personnel continue on a monthly basis and will transition to weekly as the planning enters its final days.

"We put a lot of resources into to delivering a first class show, but it's important to note that we don't do it alone," said Col. Gordon H. Elwell, Jr. 911th Airlift Wing commander. "What many people don't see are all the volunteers, local businesses,
airport personnel, police and other law enforcement agencies working hard behind the scenes to ensure the event is safe and a complete success," Colonel Elwell concluded.
