Have You Been Robbed? Published Feb. 22, 2011 By Public Affairs 911 AW/PA PITTSBURGH IAP ARS -- If you find that your home or vehicle has been broken into, not only do you need to contact your local police department but you also need to contact Security Forces. After finding that you have been burglarized, call 911 immediately and do not disturb anything. After police arrive, report to them the situation and follow all instructions. Make a list of all items that have been stolen for the local police department and insurance companies. "I suggest to everyone if you have high value items, especially electronics, write down serial numbers or take photos of the items. Keep both of these things in a safe place, not on your computer in case they stole that," said Captain Randall Gernhardt, 911th Security Forces Operations Officer. Security Forces tracks to make sure military members aren't being targeted. If during a Unit Training Assembly your house or vehicle gets broken into, it is important to let security forces know so they can warn other airmen in case members are being targeted in a certain neighborhood. You need to be aware of military accountable items and report if they have been stolen in the break-in. All military equipment, such as ID cards, flight line badges and uniforms need to be checked. To report a break in, contact the Security Forces desk at 412-474-8250 to fill out a statement. If available, bring a copy of your local police report with you. SFS will notify the Air Force Office of Special Investigation, who will work with the local police department in the matter and investigate if needed.
