The Young Eagles, an incredible grassroots movement to introduce kids to the possibilities and magic of flight, is looking for one lucky and eager child between the ages of 8 and 17 who has never flown in a general aviation aircraft. If chosen, you would have the opportunity to fly with the international chairman of Young Eagles, Sean D. Tucker, in his Team Oracle aircraft. The flight will precede the 911th Airlift Wing’s 2017 Wings over Pittsburgh Open House/ Air Show and take place on Thursday May 11th at 10 a.m.

How to enter: please write an essay no longer than 250 words describing either what you would do if you could fly or how flying would change your life. The essays will be collected and separated into two categories, 8 to 12 years old and 13 to 17 years old. We will choose the top three essays from each of the two categories and all six of these essays will be posted on our Facebook page. Once the essays are posted, voting will begin via Facebook to determine the winner. In addition, all of our finalists will be invited to a meet and greet with Sean D. Tucker.

Deadline for essay submissions is April 1st, 2017. The six finalists’ essays will be voted on during the month of April and the winner will be determined by Friday April 21st. The winner will be required to get parent or guardian permission, sign the standard Young Eagles flight waiver and agree to media coverage.
