Colonel BRETT A. NEWMAN

Colonel Brett A. Newman is the commander of the 911th Maintenance Group, 911th Airlift Wing, Pittsburgh International Air Reserve Station, Pennsylvania. As the Commander, Col Newman leads a group of 444 total force members including active guard reservists, traditional reservists, air reserve technicians, civilian, and active duty personnel in the support of eight C-17A Globemaster III aircraft providing global mobility support for national security objectives, combat operations, contingencies and humanitarian relief efforts. His oversight drives maintenance production, scheduling and sortie generation as the maintenance group manages facilities and equipment assets valued at $91.5 million, and an aircraft fleet worth $1.75 billion.
 
Colonel Newman earned his commission through the Air Force ROTC program upon graduation from Middle Tennessee State University in 1987. He has served as a maintenance group commander, commanded a maintenance flight, two maintenance squadrons, a logistics squadron, and served as a Minuteman II ICBM combat crew flight commander. He has served as an aircraft maintenance officer since 2003 with two overseas contingency operations tours in support of OPERATIONS IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Colonel Newman is a winner of the Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Award for field grade manager while stationed at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, N.Y.
