Honoring the fallen of 9/11
Members of the 911th Airlift Wing Honor Guard stand ready to raise the American Flag to half-staff, during a 9/11 memorial ceremony held on base, Sept. 11, 2012. Formations of military and civilian personnel filled the street in front of the Headquarters building, where the ceremony was held. Col. Craig C. Peters, 911th Airlift Wing commander, delivered a few remarks at the beginning of the ceremony before turning it over to Chaplain (Maj.) Brad Davis, who led the group in prayer, which was then followed by a brief moment of silence. The moment of silence coincided with the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center and throughout the morning the base conducted four other moments of silence, each one held at the time the other planes crashed.
