Region beefs up disaster response assets
Col. Craig C. Peters is briefed by Reid Scharding, a Salvation Army employee on the capabilities of the Salvation Army’s newest Disaster Response Unit (DRU) at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, May 15, 2013. The DRU was donated by FedEx to the Salvation Army during a special ceremony held on base, which also commemorated the 60th National Salvation Army Week. The 911th Airlift Wing was chosen to host the event because of its expertise in disaster response and as a valued community member within the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce.
