30-day notice
Col. Craig C. Peters, 911th Airlift Wing commander briefs the civilian workforce on the DoD proposed 11-day mandatory furlough during a civilian commander's call held May 31, 2013 at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station. The installations plan's involves furloughing employees one day a week from July 8 to Sept. 27, 2013. The 11-day furlough will have a negative impact on the 300+ civilian workforce and disrupt day-to-day operations, however, the commander's intent is to minimize those disruptions by not closing the base completely one day a week, but allow supervisors to work with employees on reaching mutually acceptable common ground between individual morale and meeting mission requirements. Following the briefing supervisors were given their workforce's 30-day intent to furlough notification, which were then distributed to employees, who signed and acknowledge receipt, making the initial phase of the furlough process.
